How do you see it?
The choices are huge, do you pay top dollar and get top of the range museum grade conservation acrylic, that will preserve that masterpiece for ever, or do you just need the standard glass? They are as different as the Arctic and the Sahara, (both in quality and price!!), and it is as though you have all the other various environments in between.
Glass or Acrylic?
Glass is more prone to break if mishandled and is much heavier, but the acrylic does scratch slightly easier and has a static charge so can’t be used for pastels or chalks or other things that aren’t 100% sealed. The reflection control is a nice thing but if it is hung in that perfect spot maybe not totally necessary. The conservation glass or acrylic are there to protect the thing behind it from those harmful UV rays, yes definitely if it is a one-off masterpiece and couldn’t be replaced, but if it is just a printed photograph then is it really worth that extra cost when you could just replace the photo in 10 years when it does fade slightly.
Again, looking in our gallery we have examples of each and our old friend google shows some good examples of how differently things look behind the various glasses or acrylics.
